At EnVisions Learning information helps inform our practice and our decisions for your child. The data collected helps put the puzzle pieces together to strike the right balance for effective programming for your child. Each assessment serves to collect different information about their academic levels, physical, intellectual, social and emotional domains of learning. And since people are always learning, this information changes as they grow!
At school, academic assessments are usually conducted by a Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT), in a one to one setting; but only after extensive classroom accommodations have been attempted by the teacher. The information gleaned lets the school team know what academic strengths and weaknesses exist and help plan program strategies as well as inform decisions about needs for other types of assessment. If necessary, schools have teams of other professionals that work with the SERT and the classroom teachers. They include Speech and Language Pathologists, Psychometrists and Social Workers. who help gather more information on how your child processes information, communicates as well as explore other socio-emotional factors affecting learning.
Private assessments are available in the community, as well, usually through a family doctor's referral.
Our goal at EnVisions Learning is to provide parents with support as soon as possible from a multidisciplinary team. Working together we create a plan tailor-made for your child and family. We also set up follow up services to assist with the recommendations suggested by other professionals.
